Michael William Schleicher
June 6, 1950 – February 11, 2023
Michael William Schleicher, age 72 of Blaine, passed away on 2/11/23.
Survived by brother Pat Schleicher, sister-in-law JoAnn (Scalia), niece Sarah Schmidt, and great-niece Grace Schmidt; Parents in law Michael and Kathleen Mueller, sisters-in-law Ann (Dale) Carlson and Jolene (Ron) Haala, Nieces Jessi (Kyle) Larson, Rachel (Mike) Farrell, Danielle (Troy) Staples; nephews Cory (Laura) Haala, Ryan Haala; Grand-nieces Elise, Brooke, Kennedy and Noelle; and many friends.
He was born on June 6, 1950 in Hazel Green, WI to Robert E. and Marjorie T Schleicher (Leifker) (both deceased). He attended St. Anthony of Padua Elementary School and Boylan Central Catholic High School in Rockford, IL. He subsequently graduated from the College of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and received advanced degrees from Vandercook School of Music in Chicago, IL.
Married for 23 years, Mike was predeceased by the love of his life, Mary (Mueller). He and Mary had their share of “for better or for worse”; “In sickness and in health”; but lived especially “I will love and honor you all the days of my life.”
Mike was a lifelong music teacher, working at Spring Lake Park High School for 33 years until he retired in 2006. He was also an accomplished trumpet player who played with many bands and groups including the Lake Wobegon Brass Band, Northern Symphony Orchestra, and most recently Roseville Community Band.
He was an instructor for the highly successful Patriots Marching Band assisting them in 6-8 competitive parades each summer including annual road trips to events such as the Calgary Stampede.
Mike was an active member at his parish, St Patrick Catholic Church in Oak Grove most recently as a member of the choir.
Mike was a beloved family member, friend and teacher. He will be greatly missed.
