Gordon Harold Arnesen
March 20, 1946 – February 14, 2026
Gordon “Gordy” Harold Arnesen, age 79, of St. Francis, MN, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on February 14, 2026.
Born on March 20, 1946, Gordy lived a life defined by laughter, hard work, and a deep, unwavering love for his family and friends. He was a proud graduate of Cretin High School, where he earned All-American honors in football, hockey, and baseball — a rare and remarkable athletic achievement that reflected his determination, competitive spirit, and natural talent. Athletics were always close to his heart. He carried that passion throughout his life, coaching his sons’ hockey teams and becoming the loudest and proudest fan of his children and grandchildren in all of their sporting activities. He will be missed immensely along every sideline, in every rink, and in every set of stands where he cheered them on.
Following high school, Gordy was drafted into the United States Army and honorably served his country during the Vietnam War. Stationed at Fort Richardson in Alaska, he fulfilled his duties with pride, strength, and dedication. Gordy built a successful and respected career as a salesman with Oxygen Service Company. A born salesman, he had a natural gift for conversation and connection. Friendly, outgoing, and quick with a smile or story, he could strike up a conversation with anyone and make them feel like an old friend. He proudly achieved membership in the Million Dollar Sales Club for many years — a testament not only to his work ethic, but to the trust and relationships he built throughout his career.
Above all else, Gordy was devoted to his family. He was the very best Dad and Grandpa — always ready with wise advice, steady encouragement, and a heartfelt conversation. He was intentional about being present, never missing a chance to show up, support, and love deeply. Gordy married the mother of his children, and together they built the foundation of the family he cherished so deeply. In 2004, he married the love of his life, Margaret “Madge” Arnesen, and they beautifully blended their families and built a life filled with laughter, companionship, and shared joy.
Gordy and Madge treasured their years together. They loved traveling to visit family and friends in Montana, Canada, St. Louis and Iowa, and especially enjoyed spending their winters in Florida. Along the way, they formed many treasured friendships.
He is lovingly survived by his wife, Margaret (Madge) Arnesen; and his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren: Kristen (Lance) Koehler and his grandson Xander; Sarah (Doug) Marbarger and their children Piper and Brooks; Mark (Cara) Arnesen and their children Avery and Wyatt; Matthew (Megan) Arnesen and their daughters Dailey and Evan; Stephanie (Paul) Egger and their children Matthew, Allie, Caleb, Cole, Christian, and Emily; and Kristine (Vic) Vogtlin. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Theresa Arnesen; his brother, Ronald; and his sister, Kathleen.
Gordy’s life was one of happiness, kindness, humor, and unwavering love for those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of strength, loyalty, and devotion that will live on in his family and in the countless lives he touched. He will be deeply missed and forever loved by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
