George Grant Jackelen

July 14, 1943 – May 25, 2026

(George Jackelen is the brother of parishioner, Carolyn Suchla)

George was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He spent his early years in Minnesota and graduated from St. Cloud State University. He joined the Air Force and his assignment to Omaha, Nebraska blessed him with the opportunity to meet his wife, Mary. Following orders to Bryan, Texas, where he earned a Master’s degree in Computer Science. Packing up the family of five and beloved “Tootles” the dog, they all drove 21 hours to Fairfax, Virginia in George’s red Volkswagen beetle. He also had the privilege of being stationed in San Antonio, Las Vegas, Seoul, Denver and Springfield, Virginia. After 20 years in the Air Force, he continued working in quality software assurance. He was an avid reader, adored puzzles, and absolutely loved peanut butter! George and Mary retired to warm, sunny Florida and he spent his final three years in Georgia with his daughter and family.

George was preceded in death by his beloved wife Mary, parents Lillian and Robert, brother Steve, and niece Robyn. He will be missed by his entire family. We are eternally grateful to the prayer warriors across the U.S. who accompanied George on his journey.

May George’s soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
