What is a Columbarium?

A columbarium is an above ground structure designed to house the cremated ashes of the deceased. Our columbarium is one of several to be constructed over the coming years. It is an octagon shape containing 40 single and 40 double niches. The single niches (1 urn) are side by side. The double niches (2 urns) are front to back. Each niche will have a granite face with a plaque showing the individual’s name, birth year and death year. The plaque will have your name cast in bronze and the birth and death years will be added with individual smaller plates.

No ornaments or flowers will be attached to the niches, with the exception of a small military medallion, as requested. Our first columbarium is dedicated to the Seven Gifts of the Holy Spirit: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety and fear of the Lord. These will be engraved in the top granite cover on each side of the columbarium.

Where Will the Columbarium be Built?

The northeast corner of the cemetery has been allocated to our columbarium (columbaria) with the first unit installed December 2023. There will be a walkway up to the columbarium from the cemetery drive with benches and a concrete walkway surrounding the columbarium and a Celtic cross in the center area.

Burial Fees

A columbarium is one of the most cost effective means of burial. You will need to purchase the niche, the name plaque, and an urn. For the double niches, there will be a second burial fee. Our cemetery was originally started for our parish, but is currently available to the community. See fees for non-parishioners. Contact any member of the cemetery team for prices, selection, and purchase of your niche and urn.

Urns

For your convenience, we offer small urns for cremation burial either in the columbarium or inground. There are several styles and colors, as well as, wood boxes.  When planning ahead, you can choose a custom inscription if so desired or use our standard Celtic cross and In Loving Memory.
