Anointing of the Sick

When a Catholic is facing serious illness or is in danger of death, please call 763.753.2011

Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament, instituted by God, specifically intended to strengthen any person facing a grave illness or death. It is a common misconception that the Anointing of the Sick is only for people who are near death. However, while it is important for anyone that is in danger of death (due to illness or age) to receive this sacrament, if at all possible, Anointing of the Sick is truly intended for anyone facing serious illness, and can be received multiple times if a person’s condition becomes more serious or if a person recovers and becomes ill again. There is always healing that takes place through anointing: the soul receives God’s grace and is spiritually prepared to meet the Lord, there may be a healing peace that comes over a person, and there are times in which physical healing takes place.

When a Catholic is facing serious illness or is in danger of death, please call 763.753.2011 and let the office know as soon as possible so that we can make this sacrament available. When necessary, a visit to the hospital or home will be arranged.
