NACE Food Shelf

A Ministry of St. Patrick

NACE Food Shelf

North Anoka County Emergency (NACE) Foodshelf

Overview

North Anoka County Emergency (NACE) is a local food shelf that distributes food to people in need. St. Patrick’s helps raise food and money for NACE from food drives and a fundraiser called “Empty Bowls”.

Weekend Packs – Fundraiser

Many children receive free or reduced meal while at school.  They rely on the food provided at school for their meals.  When they go home, there may be a shortage of food over the weekend.  We are working with local schools to help these children bridge the gap by providing a bag of readymade or easy to fix kid-friendly food.

When: April 26th – April 30th

Where:. The box will be located on the south side of the building by the church entrance outside.

Items Needed – “Kid Friendly”: Macaroni and cheese, soup (chicken noodle, etc.), Ramen noodles, Pasta and sauce, Canned meals such as ravioli, instant oatmeal, peanut butter, canned fruit or fruit cups, canned vegetable, juice; juice boxes or hot cocoa mix, package hot dogs, granola bars.

Interesting Fact: Last year NACE was serving about 25 children through their meals, this year they are serving over 170. Along with normal foods, kid friendly items are also appreciated.

For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me…Matthew 25:35-36

Empty Bowls Fundraiser (On Hold)

Empty Bowls is a fundraiser held at St. Patrick’s to help raise money for NACE Food Shelf.

When: 3rd Thursday in March. (Cancelled from COVID)

Where: St. Patrick’s Social Hall

Volunteer

For a usual volunteer shift, we spend one hour stocking the shelves and three hours distributing food at the food shelf location. Feeding the hungry is a corporal work of mercy and a great reminder that our community extends outside of our parish walls. Christ calls us to love our neighbor, whether or not we know them.
