NACE Food Shelf
A Ministry of St. Patrick
NACE Food Shelf
North Anoka County Emergency (NACE) is a local food shelf that distributes food to people in need. St. Patrick’s helps raise food and money for NACE from food drives and a fundraiser called “Empty Bowls”.
March is hunger awareness month. During this time we are reminded of our call to feed the hungry and to be good stewards of our gifts given by God.
Our Goal: Last year we were able to raise $2,300 and 100lbs of food. With recent times being so difficult for people and families, our 2021 goal is $3,000 and 150lbs of food!
Where: Please bring your monetary and non perishable items to the NACE box located in between the Information Station and Baptismal Font.
When: March 1st – March 31st
Interesting Fact: Last year NACE was serving about 25 children through their meals, this year they are serving over 170. Along with normal foods, kid friendly items are also appreciated.
Our loved ones and neighbors need our help, will we meet the call? “For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me…” Matthew 25:35-36
Empty Bowls Fundraiser
Empty Bowls is a fundraiser held at St. Patrick’s to help raise money for NACE Food Shelf.
When: 3rd Thursday in March. (Cancelled from COVID)
Where: St. Patrick’s Social Hall
For a usual volunteer shift, we spend one hour stocking the shelves and three hours distributing food at the food shelf location. Feeding the hungry is a corporal work of mercy and a great reminder that our community extends outside of our parish walls. Christ calls us to love our neighbor, whether or not we know them.
