CELEBRATE WITH US!
Priestly Ordination for Deacon Randy Skeate
Saturday, May 31, 2025 10am
Cathedral of Saint Paul, St. Paul, MN

-
The priesthood is a gift from God:
Ordination to the priesthood is seen as a call and a gift from God, not something earned or achieved by human effort. (Although we know they work very hard preparing!)
-
Empowerment to act in the name of Christ:
The ordination ceremony, including the anointing of the priest’s hands with oil, symbolizes the transmission of the Holy Spirit, empowering the priest to act in the name of Christ.
-
An indelible mark:
The sacrament of Holy Orders imprints an indelible spiritual character on the priest, meaning this gift of the priesthood cannot be removed or diminished.
-
The priesthood is a gift for the Church:The priesthood is not just a personal gift for the priest but also a gift for the entire Church, enabling them to share in the Eucharist, the Word of God, and other sacraments.
