Mathew Erik Schwantes, age 47 of Andover, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by family on January 8, 2022 at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN. He was born on October 28, 1974 in St. Paul, MN to Paul and Sharon Schwantes. Mat grew up in North St. Paul, MN and graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1993. After graduation, he attended St. Paul Technical College where he studied Electrical Engineering. He also attended Pine Technical College for Firefighter 1 & 2. Mat was a Volunteer Firefighter for both Shafer and Forest Lake Fire Departments. He was able to combine his love for both career choices when he worked for Rosenbauer General Safety as an Electrical Engineer Foreman building Fire Trucks. He also worked as a Foreman for Advance Triwest Equipment building Tower Cranes. Mathew and Valerie started dating in 2006 and were married on December 1st, 2007. They were blessed with 2 children Ali (13) and Jacob (10). They made a home together with their children in Andover, MN. He was a very proud husband and father, one who sang praises of their successes, and was a wonderful uncle to his 21 nieces and nephews. Mat loved all genres of music, everything electronic and spent his free time wiring things, playing with his RC Cars, and driving fast, loud cars. He enjoyed being outside – camping, bonfires and riding four wheelers through the woods were some of his favorite activities. He had an infectious sense of humor and was fun loving. People enjoyed spending time with him. Mat is survived by his wife Valerie, children Ali & Jacob, parents Paul Schwantes and Sharon Sporcic, siblings Melisa (Dan) Capistrant (Caleb, Natalie, Kaitlyn, Seth, Emma, Elijah, Helène, Zèlie), Amy (Tom) Sisk (Calvin, Sophia, Garrett), Alison (Nate) Johnson (Aidan, Aislin, Alex), Niece Destiny Turner, Mother-in-Law Theresa Reichmann, Sister-in- Laws Nicole (Paul) Manecke (Braedon, Taylor, Samuel), Kristin (Jon) Bruley (Lauren, Keira, Luke). He is preceded in death by his Grandparents, sister Sally Turner, Father-in-law Shad Reichmann.
Also visitation will be held on Sunday, January 16, 2022
from 5 till 8 p.m. at Thurston-Lindberg, 2005 Branch Avenue, Anoka.
Mass of Christian Burial
Monday, January 17, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.
Rosary and Visitation at 10:00 a.m.
Luncheon in the Social Hall after Mass of Christian Burial.
Private interment Forest Lawn Cemetery, Maplewood.
O Loving Father and Savior, send your angels to carry the soul of your servant from this earth to the heavenly place of eternal and everlasting life. Let family and friends who have passed before in faith be reunited in joy with the departed. Forgive any wrongs that have been committed and welcome this beloved spirit into the warm embrace of your unending peace. Amen.
